Scaling & Root Planing
The most common and well-known form of gum disease treatment is scaling and root planing. Used to target bacteria and stop its spread, we begin by removing harmful plaque and tartar along the gumline (scaling) before smoothing and reshaping the tooth root (root planing). This two-step process reduces the possibility of bacteria accumulating in the future and encourages gum tissues to reattach to teeth as they heal.
Laser Periodontal Treatment
Using a specialized dental laser, we can take a more advanced approach by targeting the bacteria using a concentrated beam of light. With optimal precision, our team can eliminate the harmful particles and avoid damaging any healthy tissue. As a less invasive form of treatment, patients can expect recovery time to be nice and short. By removing the damaged tissue with a laser, there is less bleeding and swelling because of how the laser cauterizes while it works.
